Meet The Team

Founder & Executive Director
Ilisha Hayfron-Benjamin
Ilisha is a visionary leader, community architect, and advocate for women’s emotional and spiritual well-being. Her journey is shaped by a lifelong commitment to nurturing others — whether through her culinary background, where she learned the art of feeding people with intention; her 20-year career in banking, where she developed discipline, structure, and strategic clarity; or her love for travel, which fuels her curiosity, joy, and belief in the power of shared experiences.
Known for her warmth, integrity, and grounded presence, she creates spaces where women feel seen, valued, and supported. Her love for family, her children, and her fur babies reflects the same heart she brings to her work: one that believes in care, connection, and creating environments that feel like home.
These lived experiences inspired her to create Sisters United, a movement born from her desire to offer women what she once needed herself — community, healing, and a place to grow without judgment. Through her leadership, she has built systems, programs, and partnerships that honor women’s stories while laying the foundation for a legacy that will serve generations to come.
As the Founder of Sisters United, Ilisha is committed to building a sanctuary rooted in sisterhood, intention, and collective empowerment. Her vision is simple and profound: when women rise together, families strengthen, communities shift, and generations transform.

Phyllis Barge
Phyllis is a Licensed Social Worker with more than 15 years of dedicated service to children, youth, families, and the aging population. Throughout her career, she has been committed to building trust through communication, kindness, and compassion. Her work has always centered on empowering individuals and ensuring that every family she served felt seen, supported, and understood.
One of the most impactful chapters of her career was her work with the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness. In this role, she supported families who had been displaced from affordable housing and were living in temporary shelters or hotels for years at a time. Phyllis was responsible for identifying safe, stable, and affordable housing for hundreds of families — a task that was both challenging and deeply rewarding. This work strengthened her belief in advocacy and affirmed her calling as a true change agent.
As a mother of four and a grandmother, Phyllis understands firsthand the weight of providing for a family. She also knows the reality of homelessness and the courage it takes to rebuild. Earlier in life, she survived domestic violence and relied on a shelter for safety and stability. These experiences shaped her compassion, her resilience, and her lifelong commitment to serving others.
Phyllis has been married to her husband, Steven Barge, for over 25 years. Together, they have built a life grounded in faith, family, and service. Her journey — marked by perseverance, healing, and purpose — continues to inspire her work and her role on the Sisters United Advisory Board.

Patricia DeLoatch is the Senior Pastor of Word Tabernacle Christian Center in Waldorf, Maryland, where she faithfully leads with wisdom, compassion, and a deep commitment to the transformative power of God’s Word. For more than 22 years, she has served the Body of Christ in multiple capacities, including Assistant Pastor, Director of Christian Education, Bible Studies Teacher, Youth Minister, Women’s Ministry Leader, and Intercessory Prayer Leader.
Ordained in March 2004 at Lighthouse Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Johnson, Rev. DeLoatch is known for her unique, animated, and down‑to‑earth teaching and preaching style. Her passion is clear: winning souls, discipling believers, and advancing the Kingdom of God through practical, revelatory understanding of Scripture.
A gifted communicator, she is frequently invited to speak at conferences, retreats, and prayer gatherings. Her love for both the Word and writing led to the publication of her first book, Kingdom Living: Walking in the Power of God’s Word, originally released in 2010 and newly revised under a fresh publishing house.
